AMES — Iowa State and Creighton battled through 28 fouls and seven yellow cards Sunday, August 23, 2026, but neither side could break through in a physical 0-0 draw at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
The Cyclones moved to 2-1-1, while Creighton remained winless at 0-2-1. It was the first draw of the season for both programs.
Iowa State returned home after Drake handed the previously unbeaten Cyclones a 2-0 setback Thursday night in Des Moines.
ISU controlled the overall shot count against Creighton, generating 15 attempts to the Bluejays’ seven. Quality opportunities were harder to manufacture, however, as only three Cyclone shots reached the goal.
Megan Walters, Cassidy Corcione and Sophie Forrester led Iowa State with three shots apiece.
Forrester placed two attempts on goal, while Makenna Marshall accounted for the Cyclones’ other shot on target. Creighton goalkeeper Morgan Paley handled one attempt during the first half, and Kailey Hall made two saves after taking over in goal for the second half.
Iowa State was the early aggressor, firing eight shots during the opening 25 minutes.
The Cyclones were unable to maintain that offensive pace, going without another shot during the final 20 minutes of the first half as Creighton began controlling more of the possession.
Bluejay defender Olivia Sides received the first yellow card of the match in the 24th minute.
The teams entered halftime scoreless, with Iowa State holding an 8-3 advantage in shots. Creighton owned a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
The opening half also marked the 2026 debut of Iowa State’s Alaina Villa. She entered as a reserve after battling back from a torn ACL suffered during the 2025 season.
The physical nature of the match intensified after halftime.
Creighton received two yellow cards within 10 seconds as fouls and confrontations began interrupting the flow of play.
Izabella Tejeda received Iowa State’s first yellow card of the match. Morgan Goodman was later booked in the 85th minute.
Creighton accumulated five yellow cards, while Iowa State finished with two. The Bluejays were called for 17 fouls compared to 11 against the Cyclones.
Neither side was able to turn the physical battle into a decisive scoring opportunity.
Only four total shots reached the goal during the second half, with each team producing two. All four attempts were saved.
Iowa State goalkeeper Eme McClenahan stopped both Creighton shots on goal and secured her second clean sheet of the season.
The Cyclones finished with a 15-7 advantage in total shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Creighton led 7-3 in corner kicks.
Iowa State will remain home for an early-season rivalry showdown Thursday, August 27, against Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
