CLEAR LAKE — Merlea Rozan Schultz, 77, of Urbandale and Clear Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was born December 26, 1948.
A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North in Clear Lake. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Merlea’s honor may be directed to the Clear Lake Public Library. No burial or interment information was listed with the currently available service arrangements.
Merlea was the daughter of Oscar and Mildred Amundson and maintained strong ties to the Clear Lake community throughout her life. A 1967 graduate of Clear Lake High School, she remained connected to her classmates decades after graduation.
Those connections were evident during the Clear Lake High School Class of 1967’s 55th reunion in 2022, when Merlea helped organize the gathering and hosted its opening social. The class also continued a tradition of providing scholarships to Clear Lake students, reflecting the lasting bonds Merlea and her classmates maintained with their hometown.
Merlea was also active in civic life and was recognized as a Paul Harris member through Rotary.
Above all, Merlea leaves behind a family that spans Iowa and beyond.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Schultz of Urbandale; daughter Tamara Patton and her husband, Travis, of Bradenton, Florida; son Todd Anderson of DeSoto, Iowa; stepsons Brett Schultz and his wife, Michelle, of Liberty, and Bryan Schultz and his wife, Jackie, of Marion, Iowa.
Her grandchildren include Dominick Perkins, KaCee Kelly and her husband, Nicholas, Rhiannon Anderson and Alexzander Anderson. Her step-grandchildren include Erick Schultz, Ashlyn Goodson and her husband, Jai, and Lyla Schultz.
Merlea was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mildred Amundson, and her parents-in-law, Will and Midge Schultz.
