Both chambers of the Iowa legislature are working on bills that would raise Iowa’s 22-cent-per-gallon gas tax to 32-cents-per gallon. Bills being looked at in the House and Senate have gained initial approval and are moving ahead. Governor Terry Branstad has already indicated that he would be in favor of the hike and would likely sign a final bill the comes out of the legislature. It has been decades – 1989 – since the last hike in the gas tax.
They always want more money. The State want’s us to pay more even though we are making less. The only reason this is a popular thought right now is that gas prices have gone down a little to normal levels. The gas prices will go back up, it is a sure thing and this is going to be a hardship by long commuters. They already have the money. Eliminate the waste of money spent and find another way. The overpayments on the prison would be a good example and it should have opened last year.
@John-Good points all. Totally agree with your comments.
I would hope they would do away with any more round-a-bouts. In my opinion, they are a pain to deal with. I can only wonder if they give the snowplow operators any problems.
This is going to happen so we might as ready get used to it. I would ask what happened to all the other money they have gotten?
