logo-iowa-state-patrolFLOYD COUNTY – A Minnesota truck driver was taken by ambulance to Mercy hospital Wednesday afternoon after passing out behind the wheel and crashing his truck.

Gailen Nelson, age 67 of Rose Creek, Minnesota, was driving west on the Avenue of the Saints at mile marker 196 in his 2013 Peterbuilt tractor trailer after 1 PM Wednesday when, for unknown reasons, he passed out. The truck ran off the road to the right and he over-corrected, sending the vehicle off the road to the left, where it rolled. It came to rest on its right side. The truck is used to haul liquid propane but was empty at the time of the accident.

Nelson was injured but was wearing a seat belt. He was transported to Mercy Hospital by Mason City Ambulance.
