MASON CITY – Mason City police are warning of a mail scam involving insurance.  Police said that residents in Cerro Gordo county are receiving a mailing soliciting for waterline insurance that extends from a home’s foundation to the service connection.  Police also said that “various city departments have been receiving questions from area residents regarding the validity of this mailing.  The City of Mason City is not affiliated with this company nor can it speak to the validity of the service offered.”

Homeowners are advised to contact their homeowner’s insurance company regarding insurance coverage questions.

I received this in the mail also. After reading it over, I wondered if it were legit. I threw it into the trash.
