
CEDAR RAPIDS – An elderly Iowa man suffered multiple stab wounds Sunday evening and cops chased down an alleged drunk driver and charged her with attempted murder.
Cedar Rapids Police have charged Latoya Taylor (pictured, above), age 40, of Cedar Rapids, with Attempted Murder and OWI following a Sunday, September 17, incident in the 1500 block of Washington Ave SE. Joint Communications Agency Dispatchers received a call at approximately 5:59p.m. that an individual had been stabbed. Officers located 63-year-old Willey Davis of Cedar Rapids, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Davis received medical care on-site and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition at the time was believed to be non-life-threatening.
At the same time, another CRPD unit located a car and driver matching the description of the alleged assailant. Officers attempted a traffic stop which resulted in a pursuit that ended in the CPRD parking lot. Latoya Taylor was taken into custody, charged with Attempted Murder and OWI, and booked at the Linn County Correctional Center.
There is an active, ongoing investigation into this incident, police say.
