WASHINGTON, D.C. – Donald Trump truly sees China as a serious threat to America, recognizing they have been stealing technology from the rest of the world for decades and playing by their own set of rules as their economy boomed and began to rival the USA’s, but today the President showed he will also make up his own rules possibly hour by hour, and he slapped the Chinese with 125% tariffs even as he paused most other levies around the world, causing the markets to skyrocket – at least for a day.
This evening, the White House advised folks to “be cool” – as opposed to being a “weak and stupid PANICAN” – as he made yet another momentous announcement on American trade policy.
At the Oval Office, Wednesday evening, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and President Trump (pictured above, via the White House). Lutnick said they were all together “while he wrote one of the most extraordinary Truth posts of his Presidency. The world is ready to work with President Trump to fix global trade, and China has chosen the opposite direction.”
The “truth” posted by President Trump is below:
“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable. Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Tomorrow is a new day, and perhaps a fresh round of trade war barbs will fly from various capitols around the planet.
President Trump on why he paused tariffs “I thought that people were jumping a little bit out of line. They were getting yippy, you know, they were getting a little bit yippy, a little bit afraid.”

Meanwhile, Democrats are suspicious of the on-and-off tariff announcements:

Someone should investigate his friends in his close MAGA circle. Did they buy or sell large quantities of stock in the past few months? Did they spend a lot of money buying stocks this morning and selling them in the afternoon? How has their net worth fluctuated in the past month? Everything is transactional for trump so all of this has to benefit him. If he made a lot of people a lot of money in the past weeks then he will benefit from that.
Did he pull a Pelosi?
If Pelosi did something like this, then yes he did “pull a pelosi”. If Pelosi does it it is a crime, if trump does it, it is ok because he was just copying someone else. You are not very bright nor are you ethical.
typical lib, talking about ethics, very hypercritical. Do as l say not as l do.
If we did as you say, we would all be in trouble because you say things that are really weird. I think you meant hypocritical but, with your damaged mind maybe you did mean hypercritical.
Typical lib gas lighting, do as l say not as l do
It is evident you don’t know what gaslighting means.
