CHARLES CITY – The Charles City city council met this weekend and selected an Independence man forthe job of city administrator.
“Steve Diers was offered the job and we are working on finalizing his contract as we speak,” City Clerk Trudy O’Donnell told NIT Tuesday. Diers is the city administrator for the Eastern Iowa town of Independence. He served in that position since March of 2010. He was also the city administrator/clerk for the city of Monona, Iowa from 2003 to 2010. He is a 2003 graduate of the University of Iowa in Economics.
The City of Charles City announced last week that five finalists had been selected for the soon to be vacant city administrator position for Charles City. The five finalists were Steve Golnar, Chris Ward, Joe Gaa, Patrick “Ian” Rigg and Steve Diers.
Current city administrator, Tom Brownlow, has already announced that he will retire sometime next year. He has served Charles City since 2006.
