SHEFFIELD – The West Fork Community School District Board of Education will be hosting a community meeting to share a proposed plan to construct an Indoor Wellness Center. An architect from Martin Gardner Architecture will be on hand to share the conceptual model of the structure designed by the District’s sixteen member Building Committee.
The community meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at 6:30 PM at the North Gymnasium at the High School in Sheffield.
Over the past couple of years, the West Fork Board has identified the need to update the district’s weight room, wrestling room, and improve parking at the Sheffield Campus. During this time, members of the West Fork School Board and the District’s Building Committee toured facilities other district’s have built in Nashua, Buffalo Center, and New Hampton. The West Fork CSD Board elected to hire an architect to create a conceptual design of a project to meet district needs and to provide a comparable structure for our students.
The West Fork CSD is planning to fund the proposed structure and adjacent parking lot through the use of district reserve funds in the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy and one-cent sales tax revenue accounts. Additional funds will be generated by borrowing on a short term basis (4 yrs) from future PPEL / SILO revenue so district taxpayers will not experience a request for increased levies due to this project.
