Police confirm possible bullying incident last week on way home from school

bully_girls_high_resMASON CITY – Police and school officials are investigating a possible bullying incident that took place last week after four girls allegedly followed two girls home on a school bus and then confronted them.

NIT is leaving out all names and locations in the story at the behest of the mother of the alleged victim in this case.

Mason City police confirmed Tuesday that an incident was reported to police on Friday, August, 29 (the second day of school in Mason City) where four teenage girls got on a school bus that afternoon that they are not admitted to ride in order to confront and allegedly attack two other girls. A physical engagement of some kind finally occurred after the girls exited the bus and were followed for some distance and verbal harassment took place.  No charges have been filed in the case, and according to the mother of one of the girls that was followed, a meeting took place at the High School Tuesday morning to address the incident and on-going bullying towards her daughter.

According to this mother to one of the girls that was followed home:

A High School freshman girl “gets on the bus and is listening to crap from 4 diffrent girls on the bus saying how they are going to kick her ass when she and her friend get off. They even go so far as to put their hair up in a ponytails, (don’t wanna mess up their hair I guess). As soon as my daughter and her friend get off they follow, two of them are video taping the whole thing on their cell phones. They relentlessly harrass them walking home until my daughter drops her bag, turns around to say something to them (not so nice I am sure). Mistake made right then and there. According to the MCPD as soon as she did that, she faces disorderly conduct charges!!! What?? If she would of allowed these girls to hit her from behind, slam her to the ground and god knows what else, they could be charged, other wise it is charges against all involved because she “engaged” them. So basically her telling them to leave her alone is charges against her? For what? Standing up for herself?”

School Superintendent Anita Micich told NIT that “the investigation of this allegation is currently in process.”

How were the girls allowed to get on the bus in the first place? The driver knows who rides the bus and who doesn’t.

My personal opinion is; As a nation, we are too politically correct. Now days, some would have you believe that we are better off by giving someone “time-out” and just pretending everything got better by itself. I can’t say as I blame the young girl for turning around and saying something to those that were antagonizing her. Enough is enough. If she’s wrong for turning around, how about the other girls putting their hair in pony tails. Wouldn’t that be construed as “intent” then too?

Disorderly conduct charges for sticking up for yourself. The only way to stop these bullies is to get in their face and tell them what’s going to happen if they don’t leave you alone. As long as you don’t touch them, it shouldn’t be a problem. The bus driver should not have let them get on the bus, so it’s partly the drivers fault this confrontation happened. Evidently the thousands of dollars that the state doled out last year for anti bullying classes was spent for nothing.

@Allen-Most of the classes they put on are a waste of time and money. People only listen to what they want to hear and no amount of money spent will every change that.

Gee LVS, I just reported your post by mistake. It’s to bad one can’t undue this but I don’t see how. Anyway Matt, pay no attention to this report, it was hit accidentally.

Where did LVS’s post go?? Now it’s gone. Sheesh.

@Annie-It is O.K. I have done that myself from time to time. Back to the comments=The only way to stop a bully is to get in their face and show them you are not afraid of them. Anyone who thinks anything else is nothing but a target.

Anyone know what bus this was on? my grandson rides a bus and I would like to know which one this happened on???
