Just getting back to readers of NorthIowaToday.com with answers to questions I have previously been asked that I mentioned in last week’s story.
Boom boom boom here we go.
Question 1. “What happened to the man of action, John Lee, and his petition and all that democracy? He said he was the ‘Man of Action’ but where is he?”
Answer: Well, a little birdie gave me a whisper and swore me to secrecy. But, I had my fingers crossed. (It’s politics, I hate it too.) My source said it was all fabricated by our Mayor and an ex-Mayor who employs someone’s wife. Long story short, the “man of action” got misinformation from our Mayor’s lawyer friend in Des Moines and screwed up the wording of the petition. The whole thing came unraveled when they then found out that everyone would be up for re-election, not just council member Weaver. It would jeopardize “the team” that is in place. So they pulled the plug. So much for better government. I am sure Mayor Bookie will have the “man of action,” John Lee, throw his hat into the ring for next year’s city election as he continues to build his team. As for being asked, “Did the ‘man of action’ ever have a winning season as head football coach for the Mohawks?” I can’t answer that.
2. “What’s it like working with the new mayor? He doesn’t seem engaged.”
Answer: Yes, you are right. He is just a wannabe with a lot of free time on his hands. He campaigned on “jobs, jobs, jobs” and the three “d’s”: diligence, decorum and discipline. Funny, but he left off the fourth “d”: democracy. Eric has not even come close to delivering on either issue, as he promised. Trust me, it’s been chaos. If the election were today, I don’t think he could get re-elected.
3. “Why is John Skipper such a jerk to you?”
Answer: Well, my sources at the Globe Gazette tell me to tread carefully on this one. The Globe, and John S., are watching this closely (my comments). I find it amusing that they are reading NorthIowaToday.com. So, they can finally do away with Mr. Weaver. Good luck boyz. Silly me.
Thank you. Blog away.
