MASON CITY – Hoards of folks and their canine companions converged upon the Mason City Aquatic Center Wednesday night for the third annual doggie dip fundraiser.
A free admission for dogs and their owners helped spur the large turnout. A free-will donation was accepted to help pay for the new Mason City Dog Park, which opened last week.
The parking lot plus the street were full of cars, and there were people watching from outside the fence, some set up in lawn chairs. Some people were swimming with their dogs, or just walking in the water with them still in their clothes. Many dogs had toys they were playing with.
One person who attended told NIT that “there was dog poop all over the place and it smelled like wet dog, but the people didn’t seem to mind and that it was cute.”seemed to be having fun.
There were lifeguards present.
