CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man who led North Iowa law enforcement on a dangerous chase in April has been sent to Cedar Rapids and faces new federal charges related to the incident.
Franklin Foster, age 21, was charged with numerous serious crimes in Floyd and Bremer counties after a failed traffic stop in Charles City on the evening of April 12. Foster refused to stop, and attempted to flee and elude Charles City police and as he entered Bremer county, other law enforcement agencies. A standoff then ensued before Foster was arrested at about 8:38 PM. He was charged with failing to obey a stop sign, driving while suspended, felony eluding, and assault on a peace officer, among other charges.
Local charges brought against Foster have been dropped, records show.
On Wednesday, Charles City police transported Foster to Cedar Rapids on a federal warrant. He was handed over to US Marshalls.
