Benefit to be held to help Mason City man battling disease

tony-papTony Papouchis, 42, Mason City, has been struggling with Idiopathic Necrotizing Pancreatitis for the past four years. After several hospitalizations, which included a week in the Intensive Care Unit, he has accumulated high medical costs. As a result of the disease, he is now an insulin-dependent diabetic and needs multiple digestive supplements and pain medication daily.

Family and friends are planning a fundraising benefit to help Tony defray the cost of treatment and travel to Mayo Clinic and University of Iowa Hospitals. The benefit is Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 551 S. Taft, Mason City, from 1-5 pm with music, bake sale, live and silent auction, a magician, face painting, and a pulled pork sandwich lunch. Live auction items include a football autographed by former Hawkeye and NFL player, Jared DeVries, artwork by David Rottinghaus, a $500 service package from Pritchard Motors, a Serta mattress set and many more items. Our silent auction has something for everyone from automotive and sports items to fine dining and fast food, many items to pamper mom or to entertain the kids. Many items would make great Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers.
Monetary donations may be made to the Tony Papouchis Benefit account that has been set up at First Citizen’s National Bank, 2601 4th St SW, Mason City, IA 50401.
