MASON CITY – A jailhouse fight has lead to assault charges for two inmates at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
According to jailers, on May 5th, Benjamin Jonathon Dalgliesh and Jason Ivan Bendickson were involved in an altercation in a pod dayroom area and both were charged with simple assault.
Bendickson, 39, plead guilty on May 3rd to 4th degree theft after charges of 3rd degree theft were brought by Mason City police in February. He owes $1,516.85 in fines and restitution in that case. In addition, Bendickson plead guilty on May 3rd to domestic assault causing bodily injury after charges were brought by the Clear Lake Police Department in March. He owes $710.90 in fees and court costs in that case and also received 60 days in jail. Bendickson is serving the 60 day jail sentence in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time. There is also a pending parole revocation hearing that will be scheduled sometime in the near future.
Bendickson is a convicted felon, charged with numerous serious offenses in long career of crime. His convictions include: THEFT 1ST DEGREE, BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE, DRIVING WHILE BARRED – MOTOR VEHICLE, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE – 2ND OFFENSE, INTERFERENCE W/OFFICIAL ACTS, BODILY INJURY, THEFT 4TH DEGREE, DRIVING WHILE BARRED – MOTOR VEHICLE, PROHIBITED ACTS/MARIJUANA (50 KILO), BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE, ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE, ASSAULT INTENT OF INJURY, BURGLARY 2ND DEGREE.
Dalgliesh has been in and out of the Cerro Gordo County Jail numerous times in the recent past, for offenses such as burglary and escape.
