KIRKUK, Iraq, May 8 (UPI) — At least two people died and dozens other were injured Wednesday in three bomb attacks in Kurdish areas near Kirkuk, Iraq, officials said.
The first attack — a suicide car bomb — took place at the office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, a political party headed by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, a security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The bomb injured 18 people, most of whom were Kurdish security guards, a police report said.
A second car bomb was detonated near a Kurdish security patrol in southwestern Kirkuk, killing at least one security member and injuring six others, Xinhua reported.
Another suicide car bomber hit a security checkpoint at the entrance of the Kurdish security base in Daquq, about 30 miles south of Kirkuk, the source said. The bomb killed one Kurdish security member and injured four others and one civilian.
It was unknown which group was responsible for the attacks.
