AMES – A backup point guard with the Iowa State Cyclone men’s basketball team who had been accused of sexual abuse has been cleared of the charges and will be re-joining the team immediately.
Bubu Palo, 21, from Ames, has been re-instated to the Iowa State men’s basketball team after charges filed against him in September were dropped. Palo was suspended from competitions, per the athletics department’s discipline policy, until his legal matter was resolved.
According to reports, Story county prosecutors dropped the charge after inconsistencies in the accuser’s story were uncovered.
Palo is a former walk-on who was placed on scholarship for the second semester last season. He averaged 4.0 points and 1.5 assists and was a First-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection.
