OMAHA, NE – The Northern Iowa men’s basketball team is heading to Omaha to take on nationally-ranked Creighton on Tuesday.
The Panthers are 9-8 overall and 2-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Number 13-ranked Bluejays are 16-1 overall, 5-0 in the conference. The last time UNI defeated a ranked league opponent on the road came Dec. 30, 2006, when the Panthers scored a 63-59 win at Wichita State.
UNI tallied a 65-62 win over No. 13-ranked Creighton last season (Feb. 4, 2012) in the McLeod Center on Anthony James’s 3-pointer at the buzzer.
The Panthers are coming off their largest margin of victory (31 points) in an MVC contest in their 84-53 win over Bradley on Saturday.
Creighton has won 10 consecutive games heading Tuesday’s game against the Panthers. Creighton’s only loss this season came at home to Boise State on November 28th, 83-70.
The Bluejays are led in scoring by The Valley’s top scorer, Iowa-native Doug McDermott at 23.6 ppg.
