NIACC announces 8 week semesters being offered now

MASON CITY – North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is giving students an opportunity to sign up half-way through the first semester and still get a great start on a college education. An eight-week session of courses is available to help students who, for whatever reason, did not enroll in time for fall semester.

“We know there are students from our area who may have started at larger schools, but found that they were completely overwhelmed in those environments. This will give them the opportunity to make a fresh start at NIACC,” said NIACC Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Lyn Brodersen. “We want them to know they can come back to North Iowa and enroll right away at NIACC, without having to wait until January when the spring semester begins.”

The eight-week session begins October 22. Enrollment is open now.

The eight week session is also perfect for adult students who wish to begin or to return to college. “We realize people have a variety of reasons for not making that fall session deadline. We want to help those students register and to make their entry into college as easy and pleasant as possible,” Brodersen said.
NIACC staff can help students no matter what their career goals are. “If they want to transfer to a four-year institution upon completion at NIACC, we can help them with that. Many students don’t realize they can get a bachelor’s degree without leaving the NIACC campus, thanks to our partnership with Buena Vista University. Our counselors work with students and BV to make that an easy transition. They have many excellent programs at BV that students will want to know about.”

Students interested in the eight-week session can sign up on a part-time or full-time basis. Financial aid is available to students who qualify.
Classes for the eight-week session begin October 22. For more information or to enroll, call the NIACC Admissions office: 641-422-4245 or Toll Free: 1-888– GO NIACC extension 4245.
