WASHINGTON – The U.S House of Representatives on Tuesday passed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, which prohibits the expenditure of federal funds for any abortion. Currently, federal funds cannot be used for abortion services, except in cases involving rape, incest, or life endangerment.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Christopher H. Smith and has 171 cosponsors. It was first introduced on May 14, 2013.
President Obama has already said that he will veto the bill if it passes the Senate.
