(Mason City) – The Walking School Bus Program starts Tuesday, September 4, 2012 for the Mason City Public Elementary Schools.
The program involves students walking to school under the supervision of trained adult volunteer leaders in efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce school traffic congestion.
As more students take to the sidewalks this school year, the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health is reminding residents to pay close attention to pedestrians on their morning and afternoon commutes.
Motorists need to obey all traffic rules and yield to pedestrians to ensure the safety of students, adults and fellow drivers.
