Public hearing scheduled for vacation of alley behind Harley Davidson

Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Mason City, Iowa, will meet and hold a public hearing on the 4th day of September, 2012, beginning at 7:00 o’clock P.M. in the Mason City Room of the Mason City Public Library, Mason City, Iowa, 225 2nd Street S.E., Mason City, Iowa, on the proposed vacation and conveyance of public property (North/South Alley) located in Block twenty, South Mason City (generally located in the block bounded by 7th Street Southwest, South Federal Avenue, 8th Street Southwest and South Washington Avenue) to Ronald D. Minert and legally described as follows:

The North-South alley in Block 20, South Mason City, Iowa more particularly described as a strip of land sixteen and one-half feet (16.5′) in width lying North of the North right-of-way line of Eighth Street Southwest and lying South of the South right-of-way line of Seventh Street Southwest; bounded on the West by Lots 2, 3, 6, and 7, Block 20, South Mason City, Iowa, and bounded on the East by Lots 1, 4, 5 and 8, Block 20, all in South Mason City, Iowa.

What is he going to do with the Alley? Isn’t that an easment? How is Alliant going to get to those power lines behind the place?

what about the property owner that has lived behind that mess for all of these years, what do they get?
NOTHING I would guess!

What will h-d want next? pay their property taxes? h-d bikes are a nuisance!!

Wish Harley would have left MC. They think they own the town. Maybe Ron should sell some of his luxury classic cars or airplanes & fund his own business.

How exactly does the public benefit from giving our property to a business? How does this business now operate without owning it? Is there a reason South Federal in front of the building is not being given to them?

Pure Republican view. Government takes away from citizen and gives to big business.

Of course, the city hasn’t done enough for him yet, let’s give him more! What a joke!
