NIACC men beat Clinton, 80-53

MASON CITY, Iowa – Six Trojans scored at least 10 points with Kendale Dunn’s (So., Cleveland, OH) 16 points leading the way during an 80-53 rout of Clinton Community College on Saturday.

Chris Davis (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) scored 12, while Chris Throne (So., Lake Mills, IA), Dominique Wright (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO), Nathan Brandt (Fr., Burlington, WI), and Darius Wilson (Fr., Dowagiac, MI) all scored 10.  Kendall Brown (So., Des Moines, IA) dished out seven assists.

NIACC put away the Cougars early by vaulting out to 20-4 lead in the opening minutes of the game with Davis, Dunn, and Wright all scoring six in that span.  The Trojans shot 22-of-44 in the first half and led 53-24 at halftime.

In the second half, NIACC led by 35 a few times and never led by less than 25.  In the game, NIACC outscored Clinton 22-6 off of turnovers.

Clinton struggled offensively throughout the game, going 23-for-59 (38.9 percent) from the field and 0-10 from three-point range in the final stats.  They also committed 30 turnovers and got only 18 points from their starting five.

The Trojans will play Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday as part of a men’s-women’s doubleheader.
