Mason City Volunteers Recognized

Volunteers were recognized for their work on behalf of the City of
Mason City during the 8th annual volunteer recognition luncheon held on
November 10.

Jim Leppert and Jenny Thada were the recipients of this year’s Shining Star recognition. Leppert has contributed over 100 hours to a variety of municipal projects. Thada is involved with beautification efforts at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

The Mason City Alternative High School, represented by instructor Janell Drumheller and student Allison Pope, received this year’s Shining Star Team recognition for their involvement with service projects through the City Volunteer Program.

Others volunteers recognized include: Keith Thada, Lori Caspers,
Theresa Betz, Rhonda True, Tim Latham, Tony Buhr, Jane Ginapp,
Kathy Lockle, Kathye Gaines, Virginia Balmer, Merritt Balmer, Dee Tracy
Mary Miller, Fern Robinson, Lee Robinson, Mary Jo Pavek, Joyce Pavek, Tammy Yezek, Tom Yezek, Randy Logan and Al Libby. Several Park Watch volunteers were also honored; however, due to anonymity, their names were not released.

City council members were present to help celebrate the contributions volunteers make to the city organization. Mayor Eric Bookmeyer presented the awards at the annual volunteer luncheon.
