Unidentified Body Found in Crawford County, Iowa

Crawford County, IOWA — At approximately 3:00 PM, June 19, 2012, the Crawford County Communication Center received a 911 call from the Union Pacific Railroad. Railroad employees reported that an unidentified body was located along the railroad tracks near Highway 30 in Crawford County.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with officers from the Division of Criminal Investigation, Union Pacific Railroad, and Iowa State Patrol, as well as the Crawford County Medical Examiner.

Due to the state of decomposition, positive identification and cause of death cannot be determined until final autopsy results have been completed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy will be performed today, June 20, 2012.

The Denison Fire Department and the Vail Fire Department also assisted with the investigation.
