CEDAR RAPIDS – Agicultural Secretary Tom Vilsack was in Iowa Thursday to announce funding for millions of trees across the state and elsewhere as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality Brenda Mallory. They announced a significant investment in Iowa and across the nation from President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act to expand equitable access to trees and green spaces across the country. The announcement reflects the goals of the President Biden’s Investing in America agenda and Bidenomics strategy to rebuild our economy from the middle-out and the bottom-up, advance climate resilience and environmental justice, generate economic opportunity, and build a clean energy economy nationwide.

“Today, I’m pleased to be in my home state of IA to announce new funding through President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act for the Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program. These funds will help cities across our Hawkeye state to plant, nurture, and maintain millions of trees,” Vilsack said.

Vilsack announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service is awarding more than $1 billion in competitive grants to plant and maintain trees, combat extreme heat and climate change, and improve access to nature in cities, towns, and suburbs where more than 84% of Americans live, work, and play. Communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. Territories and Tribal Nations are receiving funding, covered by the Justice40 Initiative and made possible by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act – the largest climate investment in history.

Mason City is in the process of removing 1800 ash trees due to disease. This will be good.

How does the government spending 1 Billion dollars of our money on trees reduce inflation through the inflation reduction act? Remember folks this is our tax money they are spending, the government has no money until they confiscate it from us. The inflation reduction act has nothing to do with reducing inflation, it has increased it! It is nothing but the green new deal climate spending bill that will cost us enormous sums of money now and into the future.

You are wrong. The planting of trees improves our lives. They give off oxygen that we need to breathe. Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding. Many species of wildlife depend on trees for habitat. Trees provide food, protection, and homes for many birds and mammals.

Improving this planet benefits everyone. Why anyone would be against planting trees is beyond me. It is a great use of our taxes because it benefits everyone who pays taxes and more.

I never said planting trees was a bad thing. I question what it has to do with inflation through the “inflation reduction act.” This will not reduce inflation which was the bill of goods presented to the American people.

Think long term.

How many days until Covid Kim takes credit for this?
