In Loving Memory of Ronald L Baker
Ronald L Baker was born on October 24, 1937 in Woolstock, IA to Harold and Bertha Baker. He passed away on February 25, 2026. He began his education in Woolstock and later, after his family moved, continued his schooling in Eagle Grove. Ron graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1957. During his time in high school, he played running back as a freshman on the 1954 undefeated football team. While attending school, Ron began dating Loretta Lothe, and they married on July 19, 1959.

Ron served in the Army in Fort Riley, Kansas from 1960 to 1962. Following his military service, he attended college at Northwest Missouri State before returning to Iowa. Ron & Loretta lived in Ankeny, IA before settling in Eagle Grove once again. Upon their return, Ron began a long career with the Eagle Grove Water Department, where he worked until his retirement after 34 years of service. Ron and Loretta were active members at the Evangelical Lutheran Church and active with the Junior Lutherans youth group.

During the 70’s and 80’s, Ron was involved in the community as a Cub Scout Leader and later as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was an avid sports and racing fan, especially if it involved the Hawkeyes or Chevrolet’s. He devoted countless hours playing catch with his children, their friends and grandchildren. Always enjoying the chance to see them compete and rarely missing any of their events.

Proceeding Ron in death was his father Harold Baker, mother Bertha (Wilcox) Loux, stepfather Woodrow Loux and brothers William Kenneth and Harold Duwaine Baker.

Ron was survived by his loving wife Loretta Baker, sons Bryan (Mary) Baker, Ken (Kay Dutcher) Baker, and grandchildren Bianca (Rachel Linder) Baker, Benjamin (Misty) Baker, Mercedes (Cody) Anderson, Corbin (Chesserae Brooks) Dutcher, as well as eight great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who was a part of Ron’s life and to those who have offered their condolences during this time of loss.
