MASON CITY – This Charles City rap sheet filler was graciously placed in the Beje Clark halfway house after his prison term was cut way short, and after not learning any type of lesson from the lenient punishment, ran off for a second time from his work release detail, leading cops to hunt him down.
Dean Larry Naeve, age 38, was convicted of administer harmful substance and domestic abuse assault in Floyd County in August of 2024 and sent to prison, for 5 and 2 years, respectively, only to be admitted to the Beje Clark Residential Center work release facility on July 18, 2025. Prison evidently did absolutely nothing top reform Naeve, as he failed to report back to Beje Clark as required on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Naeve (pictured at top), who is a 5’8″, 177-pound white male, was then wanted on a warrant by September 8 after Mason City police went to a judge. He was nabbed that same day and booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail at 11:01 PM.
On July 24, just about 6 days after entering Beje Clark, Naeve was charged with absence from custody (a serious misdemeanor) and was guilty. He was sentenced in August to 10 days in jail and ordered to pay Iowa courts $594.50.
Naeve now faces a charge of D felony escape from custody as a felon. He awaits a September 19 hearing.
NIT has reported on Naeve a number of times previously, for crimes such as domestic abuse assault and how he once stole beer and threw it in a river.
