CLEAR LAKE – Slick roads at a remote Clear Lake intersection made for a fiery collision and injured people escaping a ditch Monday morning.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office an accident took placce on Monday, December 30, 2024. At 7:58 AM that morning, a 2019 KIA driven by 77-year-old Gary Bradshaw of Clear Lake was eastbound on 27th Avenue S. Due to black ice coverage on the roadway, the vehicle slid into the east ditch of S 40th Street. Then, a 2023 Tesla driven by 42-year-old Faisal Radwi of Clear Lake was also eastbound on 27th Avenue S and slid through the intersection, striking the KIA that was in the ditch.
“Black ice caused a two vehicle accident this morning with one vehicle starting on fire,” Clear Lake fire later reported, and they provided the photos below to show the scary blaze in the ditch..
Bradshaw and his passenger were transported to Mercy One North Iowa with non-life threatening injuries.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Clear Lake police and fire departments.
