WAVERLY – Two Northern Iowa residents are faced felony charges following a vehicle theft from a local grocery store parking lot last fall.
According to the Waverly Police Department, 41-year-old Brandon Michael Peshel and 35-year-old Jessica Ann Marie Shadlow, both of Waverly, were arrested in connection with a theft that occurred on the morning of September 7, 2025. A victim reported his car stolen from the Waverly Hy-Vee parking lot while he was inside the business. Investigators utilized Hy-Vee surveillance footage, which reportedly captured both defendants entering the vehicle and driving away from the scene.
The pair was later apprehended inside the stolen vehicle in Marshalltown. Following their arrest, they were transported to the Bremer County Jail for an initial appearance. Both Peshel and Shadlow have been charged with Theft in the 2nd Degree, a Class D felony.
While Shadlow has since been released on bond with a promise to appear in court, Peshel remained in custody at the Bremer County Jail. In addition to the theft charge, he faces further legal complications regarding a violation of his probation.
Court records show Peshel later took a plea deal to operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and got only 2 years of probation and court costs of $42.80. Shadlow, however, is still awaiting a plea hearing set for March 31. Records also show Shadlow was accused of a violent crime in 2025 in Butler county, along with drug possession. The court threw out the assault charge but the drug charge cost her $1775.23 owed to Iowa courts.
