Business that offered “snuggling sessions” gives in to pressure and closes down

MADISON, WI – A business that offered professional snuggling sessions closed for good last week, giving in to what it claims was pressure from local officials.

The Snuggle House, located in Madison, Wisconsin, employed four “professional snugglers,” according to its website, and the sessions apparently took place in bedrooms. A snuggling session cost $60.00, with each additional hour $60.00. There were security cameras placed throughout the business location.

The Snuggle House reported on December 6th that it had closed for good, however, due to pressure from local officials. The business was only open a few weeks before closing.

As noted on the Snuggle House Facebook page, “The push back and harassment is not worth it, honestly.  The Snuggle House is Officially Closed – for good. For those people who supported us, thank you. Snuggle on!”

Many of the supporters/followers of The Snuggle House offered words of encouragement to the business, or disappointment that the business had closed.

“u gave up quick…..2 bad u gotta be close,” one woman posted.

“I’m kinda disappointed in you, snuggle house. didn’t think you’d let the haters win,” another man said.

Other snuggling businesses are located in large cities, a web search revealed. “Three Hours of Cuddle time in front of a beautifully lit Christmas tree,” one such service in New York City offered.

The Snuggle House even offered Professional Snuggling Certification, a “first-of-its-kind Therapeutic Cuddling certification program. This program consists of material that provides the cuddler and the client a quality-controlled experience through a vast training experience that each ‘Professional Snuggler’ is encouraged to complete before engaging in paid sessions with the public. SnuggleU (TM) covers safety, cuddling sessions, appropriate conduct & behavior, and even promotion and marketing to ensure a consistent and congruent message and session protocol for a successful business operation.”
