Debra Kaye Haglund was born July 28, 1952, a daughter of Elvin and Aagot (Knutson) Meyer at Fort Dodge. She attended Humboldt School, graduating in 1971.
She was married in 1973 to Micheal Fort. To this union two daughters, Michelle and Amanda were born, they later divorced. On June 17, 1993 Debra married Roger Haglund. In their short time together they loved to go bowling and traveling on day trips. Roger passed away in 2000.
Debra worked for over 20 years as a CNA at Scenic Manor and Heritage Care Center. She was a hard worker and rarely ever missed work, to the point she even tried to work with an unknown broken shoulder. Her kids remember times when she was picked up on snowmobile to get to work.
Spending time with her family was important to her and her family enjoyed her homemade tenderloins that she loved to share. QVC shopping was her favorite pastime and would often “gift” to someone in the family by time another package would arrive. She was very giving and thoughtful even until her last days here on earth. Spending time drinking coffee with her friends also was special for her. She loved animals and fed deer and squirrels in her yard. She is remembered for her sense of humor and was always positive. Even while battling her illness, she kept her positive attitude frequently saying, ‘someone else has it worse than me.’
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Michelle (Matt) Kent, Iowa Falls; Amanda Fort, Fort Dodge; grandchildren: Morgan (Daniel) Jeckell, Gilmore City; Michael (fiance’ Ellie) Kent, Iowa Falls; Mason (S.O. Maddie) Kent, Iowa Falls; brothers and sister: Randy (Sara) Meyer, Mankato, MN; Maureen (Tom) Steil, Galesburg, IL; Kevin Meyer, Clarion; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Debra is preceded in death by her parents and husband Roger Haglund, Sr.
