LU VERNE — Family, friends and the Lu Verne community are mourning the loss of Dennis Altman, a successful farmer whose dedication to agriculture, family and faith left a lasting mark on those who knew him. Altman passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 53.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Visitation will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish Presentation Center prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. The funeral Mass will also be livestreamed through the funeral home’s website.
Born and raised in the Lu Verne area, Dennis built a life centered on farming and family. Through years of hard work, determination and dedication to the land, he became known as a successful farmer who took pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.
Those who knew Dennis remember him as a man who valued family, friendships and his rural Iowa roots. His willingness to lend a helping hand, along with his strong work ethic and commitment to his community, earned him the respect of neighbors and friends alike.
His passing leaves a tremendous void for his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him, but the legacy he built through a lifetime of hard work, kindness and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
