CLEAR LAKE — A 41-year-old traveler accused of speeding through Clear Lake well above the posted limit was arrested by police and booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a series of criminal and traffic charges.
Awach Leon Theodor was booked into the jail at 4:14 a.m. on July 12, 2026, following an encounter with the Clear Lake Police Department.
Authorities charged Theodor with first-offense operating while under the influence, a serious misdemeanor, and providing false identification information, a simple misdemeanor.
Police also cited her for driving without a valid driver’s license, possessing an open alcohol container while driving, and speeding 16 to 20 mph over the posted limit.
Court records do not specify where in Clear Lake the stop occurred, the posted speed limit, the speed allegedly recorded by officers, or what false identifying information Theodor is accused of providing.
The listed bond amounts associated with the arrest totaled $2,569. Court records show Theodor posted cash bond on July 13 and was released from custody.
The Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s Office filed trial information in the OWI case on July 20. Theodor is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m. Aug. 17 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
Separate proceedings involving the false identification charge and the related traffic citations are scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, roughly 30 percent of Iowa’s traffic fatalities involve an impaired driver. Iowa recorded a historic low of 260 traffic deaths in 2025, but state officials continue to emphasize that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of deadly crashes on Iowa roadways.
