IOWA FALLS — Lois C. Mumm, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose deep faith guided decades of service to her church and community, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Hansen Family Hospital. She was 92.

Lois Christine Petersen was born April 11, 1934, in Goodrich Township in Crawford County, the daughter of John D. and Alma O. Sievers Petersen.
Her family lived near Denison before moving to Westside in February 1942. Lois attended a country school and later continued her education at Westside Public School, graduating with the Class of 1952.
Faith remained at the center of Lois’ life from an early age. She was baptized on May 27, 1934, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed her faith on March 28, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
Lois married George Mumm on October 6, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. The couple shared 68 years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Bradley Jay, Bruce Jon and Christine Lois.
Lois remained home to raise her children until they were all attending school. She later worked for The Advertiser and Graphic Agri Business before becoming secretary at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She served as the church secretary for 24 years before retiring, becoming a familiar and trusted presence within the congregation.
Lois was an exceptionally active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Over the years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary and treasurer and helped in the church kitchen.
She also participated in Ladies Aid, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the quilting group and the church choir. Lois often joked that the only church duty she could not perform was playing the organ.
Her faith and family meant more to her than anything else, and she devoted much of her life to caring for the people around her and supporting the church community she loved.
Lois is survived by her husband of 68 years, George Mumm; her son, Bruce Mumm; her granddaughter, Ellen Ford and her husband, Grant; her daughter, Christine Brinkley; her granddaughter, Nicole Wood and her husband, Dan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Petersen; her parents-in-law, George and Elsie Mumm; her son, Bradley Mumm; and her son-in-law, David Brinkley.
Lois will be remembered for her enduring faith, her devotion to her family and her many years of humble service to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
