A Funeral Mass for Douglas Molacek will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Algona. The service will be live streamed on the church’s YouTube page. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. The committal service will be live streamed on the Oakcrest Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the St. Cecelia Presentation Center in Algona.
Douglas Molacek was born on August 6, 1959, in Estherville, IA, son of Stephen and Barbara Molacek. Doug was the 6th child of 9 to this union. He was always the “favorite” and had many conversations with his siblings about that. He grew up and attended school in Garden Grove, CA, where he wrestled and graduated his junior year. His family returned to Iowa in 1976.
Doug was hired at Snap-On Tools in 1978 where he worked until retirement in 2023. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local 1045. He served in various roles within the Union including shop steward. He was a strong believer in employees earning a living wage and having a safe working environment.
Doug was united in marriage to Rose Vaske on August 28, 1992. From this union was born a beautiful daughter, Katie, who stole her daddy’s heart. Doug also gained two bonus sons from this marriage, Jeremy and Chris Fraker, who he loved as his own. He loved and cherished all his children and was so proud of each of them. They welcomed 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild to their family over the past 32 years. Family was everything to Doug and each of his grandchildren/great grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. They were all his “favorite”.
Doug was a handyman and enjoyed doing home projects on his own or with the assistance of his brothers. He always made himself available when any of the kids had a home project that needed to be completed. He also indulged Rose in many projects such as landscaping, for which she will forever enjoy the beauty of, and treasure the memories of working together to complete each one. He was truly the yin to her yang and will be so terribly missed.
Doug and Rose enjoyed traveling and made many trips to California to spend time with their Cali family. He and Rose had a love for a beautiful beach and crashing waves. Many fond memories were made on these trips. They still had places to go, people to see, and memories to make…
Doug passed away June 7, 2024, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, IA, with his family by his side. He was 64. Doug is survived by his wife and soulmate, Rose, of 32 years. He is also survived by his daughter Katie (Cory) Connelly and children Izzy, Griffin, and Clara; his son, Jeremy (Erin) Fraker and children, Jason (Bailee) Reding-daughter Rowan and baby boy due in August, Blake Crawmer (special friend Halle Rezac), Shelby, and Courtney; his son Christopher (Angie) Fraker and children Madison, Morgan and Alayna; and by bonus parents Clete and Kaye Molacek with whom he made many fond memories.
He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis and Kathy Molacek, Kenny and Cathy Molacek, Steve and Joyce Molacek, and John and Julie Molacek; sisters Anita Beach, Pam and Joe Sheda, Dawn Molacek, and Sheila Molacek; in-laws Larry and Cindy Vaske, Mary Berte, Joe and Virginia Vaske, Julie and Dennis Penning, Rita and Mike Frette, Richard and Melissa Vaske and many nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Madison Fraker; his parents Stephen and Barbara Molacek; his father and mother-in-law Allen and Rosemary Vaske and his brother-in-law Arnie Berte.
