North Iowa farmer perishes in grain bin mis-hap

HARDIN COUNTY – A long-time North Iowa farmer was killed in a grain bin mis-hap in Hardin County Wednesday.

At approximately 12:30 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, the Hardin County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call reporting farm related accident at 20564 Co. Hwy S-55. Upon arrival it was determined that a male individual was buried under a significant amount of corn which was still spilling from a grain bin. The individual was located and recovered from the corn and all life saving measures were performed to no avail. The deceased was identified as 79-year-old Kennerly Reece of rural Eldora, who had farmed for many years.

The Hardin County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Eldora EMS, Eldora Fire, Eldora Police Department, New Providence Fire, Hubbard Fire, Iowa Falls Fire, Iowa Falls EMS, Steamboat Rock Fire, Hardin County Emergency Management, Hardin County E-Squad, Air Care and multiple area farmers.
