TRIPOLI — Family and friends are remembering Melvin A. Bergmann, 88, of Tripoli, who passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Tripoli Nursing & Rehab. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories rooted in faith, family, hard work, and the community he proudly called home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Evan Meester officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Tripoli, with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service.
Born and raised with the values of faith, integrity and hard work, Melvin built a life centered on his family and his community. Those who knew him remember a kind and dependable man whose quiet strength, humble nature and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Throughout his life, Melvin embraced the simple joys that define rural Iowa—cherishing time with loved ones, serving his church, and taking pride in a lifetime of honest work. His steady example, gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to those closest to him became the foundation of a legacy that will continue through the generations of family and friends who loved him.
Although his passing brings sadness, Melvin’s life is celebrated for the compassion, faith and steadfast character he shared so freely. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him and remind them of the importance of kindness, humility and a life well lived.
