CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman was arrested twice in the same day after an assault incident.
At 11:24 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, officers with the Charles City police department were sent to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for a disturbance. After an investigation, police arrested 43-year-old Rachel Gerber of Charles City on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault display or use of a weapon. Garber was booked and released. However, a judge imposed a no-contact order on Garber.
Later that day, at 4:42 PM, Garber allegedly returned to the scene of her earlier incident. Police were called back to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for a report of a possible no-contact order violation. After an investigation, Garber was located and arrested for violation of the no-contact order. Garber was taken to the Floyd county jail and remains held there. Judges can impose up to 7 days in jail for each no-contact order violation.
Garber now awaits a hearing that is scheduled for the morning of June 3 for the original charge and a hearing set for June 7 for the no-contact order violation.
