Doris Wyborny, 94, of Rudd, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Private services will be held with inurnment in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, Iowa.

A Celebration of her Life will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Clear Lake VFW, 219 Main Ave, Clear Lake, IA.

Doris was born July 7, 1929 in Cerro Gordo County, the daughter of Gordon and Loretta (Kielty) Moorehead. She attended Country School, later graduating from Mason City High School. Doris began working at a young age at local restaurants and later American Optical. For many years she worked at Mode O’Day as a skilled seamstress. She even coordinated a full carpool to ensure the other ladies beside her could get to work each day. On June 4, 1948 she married the love of her life and favorite dance partner, Glen Robert Wyborny. The couple moved to what would become the family farm north of Rudd. They dedicated their lives to the farm and Wyborny Concrete Company; Doris was still out working in the 2000’s and was cooking meals for everyone on site until very recently.

Doris’ life was a beautiful blend of hard work, dedication, and joyful Saturday night escapades with Glen. No matter the weather or how long it took Glen to get ready, they danced the night away in local dance halls across North Iowa, often concluding their evenings with a late-night dinner. Doris relished in casino trips and had a love for puzzles, reflecting her vibrant and curious spirit. She was warm and patient, always making those around her feel at ease. Despite her gentle nature, she didn’t shy away from a spirited political debate, especially when it came to Trump. Her family was her greatest joy; she cherished every moment, from festive holidays to the simple pleasure of welcoming the kids home from school. Doris never missed a birthday, always ensuring her loved ones received cards and calls. Her unwavering love and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Doris is survived by her children, Charlotte (Gary) Johnson of Clear Lake, Roni (Jen Atkinson) Wyborny of Clear Lake, and Micki (Shelley) Wyborny of Osage; grandchildren, Daniel (Rhonda) Neal, Stacy Rooney, Garrett (Celeste) Johnson, Shane McRoberts, Nathan McRoberts, Lance (Dakota) McRoberts, Matthew Wyborny, Sadie (Jace) Winfrey, Adam Wyborny, Steven (Mikayla) Wyborny, and Jenny (Cale) Lang; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Donny; sisters, Connie and Linda; as well as extended family and cherished friends.

Those welcoming her to Heaven are her husband; an infant daughter, Janice; infant son, Kurt; daughter, Cindy Schriever in 2007; daughter-in-law, Kerrie Wyborny in 2009; great-grandson, Brandon Neal; great-granddaughter, Addison Wyborny; parents; and siblings Bob, Richard, Michael, Mary, and Marge.
