SPIRIT LAKE — Linda Diane Harbst, 75, of Spirit Lake, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Lakes Regional Healthcare with her family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Milford.
A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 28, at Turner Jenness Family Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.
Linda was born June 16, 1951, in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Delores Bryant.
She attended Sheldon High School and later continued her education at Iowa Lakes Community College.
On May 5, 1972, Linda married the love of her life, Jerry Harbst, in Sheldon.
The couple lived in Sheldon before making their home in the Spirit Lake area in 1975.
Linda devoted her life to caring for her home and family. She was also a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake.
Her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart.
Linda treasured the time she spent with them and rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, where she could be counted on as one of their loudest and proudest supporters.
She also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including soaking up the sunshine, playing cards and making trips to the casino to test her luck.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jerry Harbst; children Amy Harbst Baschke, Jill and Jeff Teten, Jeff and Missy Harbst, Mike Harbst, and April Harbst; sisters DeeAnn and Greg Anderson and Bonnie and Dave Berry; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Delores Bryant, and her brothers, Bill and Roger Bryant.
