ANKENY – An Iowa fast food joint burned early Thursday morning.

At approximately 1AM, Feb. 14, 2024, the Ankeny Fire Department was dispatched to 3155 N. Ankeny Blvd at Popeyes Chicken for a commercial fire alarm. The Ankeny Police Department arrived on the scene and found that the restaurant was full of smoke and there was smoke coming from the roof. The incident was quickly upgraded to a first alarm structure fire, brining additional resources to the scene.

The Ankeny Fire Department arrived on scene in just a few minutes later and found heavy smoke throughout the building, smoke coming from the roof, and also a fire in the kitchen area of the restaurant. Crews immediately entered the structure with hose lines, extinguished the fire, and ventilated the building. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No other information is available at this time.
