Kinney Pioneer Museum announces new board members and officers

MASON CITY – Kinney Pioneer Museum is excited to announce the addition of two new board members to its governing board. At its recently held annual meeting Bennett Smith and Lee Speakar were voted onto the Trustee Board. Bennett Smith is an instructor in history and political science at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). He is from Clear Lake and currently serves on the Clear Lake City Council. Lee Speakar owned Speakar Photography in Clear Lake.

The Board of Trustees also elected new officers for 2020. Jason Baumann was elected as President of the Board and Bennett Smith will serve as Vice-President. John Barron will serve as Treasurer and Breanna Lubkeman will serve as Secretary.

The mission of the Kinney Pioneer Museum and Historical Society of North Iowa is to perpetuate the memory and history of North Central Iowa and surrounding territory. Founded in 1968, the Kinney Pioneer Museum, located near the Mason City Municipal Airport offers visitors a taste of true pioneer life and the history of our community. Run by a variety of volunteers, Kinney Pioneer Museum provides group tours led by passionate and well informed docents, and maintains a signature sense of Midwestern hospitality.

We would like to invite the public to become members of the museum. Our fee structure for the coming year is $40.00 for a family and $15.00 per individual. Included in the membership is general admission to the museum and our special event days, the quarterly newsletter and voting rights at the annual meeting in October. The museum is open from May 1st through October 1st from Tuesday’s through Sunday’s from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
