Charles City man hurt in auto accident near Mason City this morning

MASON CITY - A Charles City man suffered injuries early this morning when his vehicle left a road and became stuck under a bridge.

MASON CITY – A Charles City man suffered injuries early this morning when his vehicle left a road and became stuck under a bridge.

On September 16, 2023, at 6:02 AM the Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a single vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 65 south of Mason City. Upon arrival, a deputy tended to the driver’s injuries until medics arrived. The driver was identified as Anthony Slocum, 38, of Charles City. Slocum’s vehicle had left the roadway and wedged under the overhead bridge at the top of the embankment. He was transported to Mercy One North Iowa by the Mason City Fire Medics with non life-threatening injuries.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol.
