SPIRIT LAKE — Ian Richard Ackroyd, 61, of Spirit Lake, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, August 31, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home, 1302 Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake.
Ian was born May 25, 1965, in Halifax, England, the son of Leslie and Dorothy Ackroyd.
On May 27, 1988, Ian married Clare Ackroyd in Wymeswold, England.
Ian and Clare built a life together that carried them from England to the United States.
They lived in Rattlesden and Winfarthing, England, and Maxton, North Carolina, before settling in Spirit Lake in 2002.
Agriculture remained an important part of Ian’s life and career. He held a variety of farm-management positions over the years.
Away from work, Ian enjoyed staying active and spending time on his computer, whether playing games or exploring his interests.
His greatest joy came from spending time and playing with his two grandsons, Cooper and Colt.
Ian is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Cody Davis; grandsons Cooper and Colt Davis; sister Lynn Lawson; brother Graeme Ackroyd; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clare Ackroyd; parents Leslie and Dorothy Ackroyd; and stepmother Sheila Ackroyd.
