CLEAR LAKE, IOWA — Wilma M. Kingery-Vantuyl, 94, of Clear Lake, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Heritage Care Center in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, at Marble Rock United Methodist Church, 208 Iowa Street in Marble Rock. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.
Wilma Maxine Kingery-Vantuyl was born September 4, 1931, in rural Marble Rock, the daughter of William Arthur “Art” and Daisy (Brown) Parker. She attended a country school before continuing her education at Marble Rock Elementary and High School.
In 1949, Wilma married Leroy Kingery at Bethel Baptist Church in Marble Rock. Together they raised three sons while farming in the Greene and Marble Rock areas. The couple retired from farming in 1976 and spent many winters in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. Leroy died in 2003.
Wilma married Robert Vantuyl Sr. of Olathe, Kansas, in 2005, and the couple made their home in Greene. Robert died in 2015.
Wilma devoted many years of her life to caring for others through a career in nursing. She began as a licensed practical nurse and later became a registered nurse. Her North Iowa nursing career included work at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, North Iowa Medical Center, Oakwood Care Center and Heritage Care Center. She retired from nursing in 1987.
Wilma’s family includes her sons, Stanley (Paula) Kingery, Duane Kingery and Daniel (Lynn) Kingery; grandchildren Kristen (Shane) Uker, Alicia (Kirk) Helm, Megan (Drew) Cochran, Abigail (David) Bush and Darrin (Lindsey) Kingery; and great-grandchildren Liam, Maverick, Eleanor, Madilyn, Bjorn, Kate, Ryker, Charlotte, Ezme, Lyla and Lucy. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leroy Kingery and Robert Vantuyl; brothers Edgar, Russel, Kenneth and Roy; sisters Dorothy Merfeld and Gail Kammeyer; and a sister, Helen, who died in infancy.
