BENTONVILLE, AR – Walmart is taking a beating on social media after an Indiana store allegedly created a gun display with a sign that said “Own The School Year Like A Hero”.
Reportedly, the incident took place in Evansville, Indiana this week. A person snapped a photo of the questionable firearm display, posted it to social media Wednesday, and all hell broke loose. Walmart has received a torrent of criticism for the blatant display of commercialism; many people are upset due to the numerous killings at schools across the county in which the assailants used guns to murder people. According to an article everytownresearch.org, there have been 233 school shootings in America since 2013.
One Walmart shopper said “How low will Walmart go, just to make a buck?”
In response, Walmart has assured shoppers this was all a big misunderstanding. The massive retailer’s latest response to a peeved purchaser was “This signage placement would never be acceptable in any of our stores. We’re looking into how this regrettable situation happened.”
Reportedly, Walmart’s corporate office claims the sign is now gone.
