AMES — Jack Trice Stadium was transformed into a sea of country music fans on Saturday for the Luke Combs concert, an event that saw local law enforcement and medical teams working overtime to manage a massive, and at times rowdy, crowd.

While the vast majority of the “Bootleggers” in attendance enjoyed the show responsibly, the Iowa State University Police Department and assisting agencies were kept busy dealing with the fallout of excessive celebration. According to official stats released following the event, law enforcement made a total of 17 arrests and issued seven citations.

Underage drinking proved to be a primary focus for officers on the ground, as all seven citations issued during the event were for Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age. The high-energy environment also led to one juvenile referral and eight ejections from the stadium as security moved to remove disruptive individuals.

Georges Niang loves beer, especially during the NBA season, evidently.

According to a video of the event (see below) former Cyclone basketball player Georges Niang (an NBA an unrestricted free agent) “joined Luke Combs on stage to shotgun a beer during Combs’ song ‘1, 2 many”.

The physical toll of the day was equally evident in the medical logs. First aid teams were the busiest of the night, responding to 68 calls for assistance. The medical response also included four “Gator Medic” calls to navigate the dense crowds and eight ambulance conveyances to local hospitals.

Despite the arrests and the nearly 70 first aid interventions, officials categorized the night as a success.

“We especially want to recognize the thousands of concertgoers who enjoyed the event responsibly and did not end up in our statistics,” the department said in a statement. “Your cooperation helped make this a safe and successful day for everyone.”

The concert marked a rare non-football use of the stadium, drawing fans from across the Midwest. The Ames Police Department and Iowa State University officials extended their gratitude to the public safety and medical teams who remained on-site until the final notes faded and the stadium was cleared.

This would never happen at the Turning Point Halftime Show. I bet Charlie is looking up at this in shame.

You mean the guy who said he would think twice about flying on a plane with a Black pilot? That Charlie KIrk?

That shows how much you know about Christianity. Charlie Kirk would have nothing to do with who gets in. However, he is probably on the Board of Directors of the next place Donny will be staying.

OK.. Matt.

Imagine this was a George Strait conce- wait, that wasn’t a good example.
Imagine this was a Zac Brown Band Conce- dang, that wasn’t a good one either
IMAGINE this was a Darius Rucker concert. Hootie would Blow a FISH.

Imagine this was a Bad Bunny concert. The headlines on NIT would read “Drunken, crazed immigrants assault hundreds and cause mayhem during a concert. White Americans watched, terrified and appalled by the actions of these scum?

And the headline would be correct.

You wouldn’t recognize a racist headline if it slapped you in the face.
