Branstad issues statement on Regents nominees:
(DES MOINES) – Gov. Branstad issued the following statement upon learning Craig Lang and Robert Cramer did not receive the required number of votes in the Iowa Senate to serve on the Iowa Board of Regents:
“I am deeply disappointed that most Senate Democrats cast their votes against Robert Cramer and Craig Lang.
“Both Robert and Craig answered the call to public service, and they both deserved the opportunity to serve on the Board of Regents. Craig Lang showed great leadership while on the Board of Regents and Robert Cramer brought unique experience in the construction industry.
“I am greatly disappointed that these two fine individuals were treated in such a shabby manner.”
Branstad has a pretty good idea of shabby treatment since he treats everyone but his good buddies in a shabby manner.
@bodacious-I also said “such is politics” that is plural.
Probably a good thing they kicked Cramer to the curb – he is too wacky-religious-freaky.
How did Amanda Ragan vote?
I lean Democrat. I am surprised that Craig Lang didn’t get reappointed. Although I don’t agree with his politics, he had a good vision of higher education and was a strong supporter of Iowa’s universities. He also worked to increase transparency which was a very good thing. A raspberry to the Senate Democrats for this one. Herman Quirmbach, you should be ashamed.
Such is politics. What else would you expect from Democrats?
99% of Branstad’s appointees were approved. Cramer is a wacko and Lang made one mistake and although I think he should have been confirmed, so be it. It is not like the Republicans would have done anything different if there was a Democrat in the governor’s seat. They have done it before. By the way, there were 3 Republicans who voted against Cramer. So, don’t be so quick to make your derogatory remarks about Democrats. It is called politics.
