A lifelong resident of Cresco, Iowa, Colleen Sue (Queel) Gehling was born on May 14, 1942, to George Abraham Queel and Vera Esther (Halweg) Queel, and passed to her eternal rest on September 18, 2022. Colleen attended Cresco Public School. Colleen and Vincent Joseph Gehling were married in Cresco on January 23, 1960. Colleen enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, church volunteer work, and card club.
Colleen is survived by husband Vince, daughter Denise Gehling (Jason Wolcott, Tipton, IA), son David Gehling (Teresa Barta Gehling, Decorah, IA), son John Gehling (Sarah Gehling, Cresco, IA), and son James Gehling (Decorah, IA). She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Sara, Katie, Haley, Matthew, Nicholas, Mark, and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her parents and other extended family. Although an only child, Colleen was blessed with aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom she, her husband, and children were close. While many of these extended family members are no longer with us, they remain near in our hearts.
